Service
Benefits Checker provides informational estimates of possible public benefits and related programs in the United States, United Kingdom, and France. It is an independent service and is not affiliated with any government. The agencies that run each program (e.g. state agencies, DWP/HMRC/local authorities, CAF/MSA/CPAM) make eligibility and award decisions. You are responsible for applications you submit.
No professional advice
Nothing in the service is legal, tax, financial, or benefits counseling. For advice, consult a qualified professional or a legal aid / benefits counselor (e.g. Citizens Advice in the UK).
Acceptable use
- Do not submit SSNs, National Insurance numbers, NIR, ITINs, or other government IDs.
- Do not use the service to commit fraud or misrepresent household facts to agencies.
- Do not attempt to disrupt or overload the service or upstream APIs.
Upstream data
Rules calculations may use PolicyEngine (US/UK), OpenFisca-France (AGPL; public API is prototyping-only with no SLA), and curated public sources. Their terms and accuracy limits apply. Estimates can be wrong or incomplete.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Benefits Checker and its operator are not liable for missed benefits, incorrect estimates, or decisions made based on the service.
